What is Thymotas?

Thymotas is a stable, standardized and ready to use tablet formulation containing Thymoquinone (TQ). This is developed by R & D experts of Intas pharmaceuticals limited for the first time in the world which is currently approved in India as an ayurvedic proprietary medicine.

Thymoquinone (TQ) is an active compound found in the volatile oil of the plant Nigella Sativa (also known as black cumin or ‘kalonji’/’kali Jiri’ in vernacular term). N. sativa seeds are commonly known as black cumin and have been used as a spice and a condiment. Nigella sativa has appealed healers in ancient civilizations (for more than 2000 years) and researchers in recent times alike.

Thymotas should be taken orally (through mouth).The recommended dose for Thymotas as the immunity booster is 12.5 mg per day. While as an adjunct to infection treatment, the dose is up to 50 mg/day based on the severity of infection or as directed by the physician. It should be taken after meal during. It should be swallowed and not to be chewed or crushed.

If you miss the particular dose of the day, you can still continue from the next day as per the recommended dosing.

It is approved already as an ayurvedic proprietary medicine which points towards the inherent safety of the product. Moreover, it has been safely administered up to 1000 mg single dose in healthy subjects. Up to 100 mg daily dose has been administered for 3 months safely in diabetic patients.

Being the natural substance and approved as an ayurvedic proprietary medicine, it is inherently safe. Possible untoward effects noted in some people with the use of the product at high doses are diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort etc. which are generally mild and transient in nature.

No special precautions are required to be taken with the use of Thymotas in the suggested way of usage. It is not recommended to be used in pregnant/lactating women.

Available literature/evidence doesn’t forbid the use of the product in such conditions. Though, you should consult your treating physician to resolve your concern before initiating Thymotas.

Available literature doesn’t restrict the use of Thymotas with other medications. So, it can be used along with other medications in consultation with your treating clinician. However, it is advisable to keep time gap between taking this and other medication.

It should be stored in cool and dry place (preferably below 25º C).
